We are looking for a Payment Systems Production Engineer to join a leading international financial institution at the heart of technological innovation in payment systems. As part of a dynamic, multicultural team based in Montreal, you will play a strategic role in maintaining the operational conditions of a critical application used to process USD payments for North America.

Discover your future responsibilities

You will be responsible for production application support for a centralized payment system, working directly with the Operations, Security, Infrastructure and external partner teams. This position combines level 2/3 support, project management, continuous improvement and technical and functional coordination in a demanding real-time environment.

Production application support :

  • Ensure smooth operation of the USD payment processing application
  • Support real-time interfaces (SWIFT, FEDWIRE, CHIPS)
  • Support for downstream interfaces: treasury, sanctions filtering, anti-money laundering, etc.
  • Take charge of the day’s opening and closing activities
  • Monitor and manage end-of-day batch processing
  • Monitor and analyze data flows (audit warehouses, reconciliations)
  • Coordinate with the application publisher and internal IT teams (infrastructure, security, etc.).
  • Resolving production incidents: root cause analysis (RCA), fault correction, report writing
  • Actively participate in planned maintenance, business continuity testing (BCP), critical failovers, tests and deployments related to market infrastructures
  • Make proposals to improve and simplify existing information systems

Participation in projects & developments :

  • Act as the main contact for payment system projects
  • Gather requirements from business and IT stakeholders
  • Define and monitor solution strategies
  • Coordinate with technical teams (local and global) for implementation
  • Provide clarification of requirements throughout the project cycle
  • Write project documentation: requirements expressions, specifications, technical/functional designs
  • Develop test strategies, build plans and execute scripts (unit, integration, functional and technical tests)
  • Manage test phases through to user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Train users and internal team members

Your expertise

  • 6 to 9 years in a similar environment
  • English required, French a plus
  • Solid knowledge of bank payments
  • Experience in IT support for a payment system: production management, upgrades, maintenance
  • Mastery of payment flows, financial messages and market standards (ISO 20022, SWIFT, GPI, etc.)
  • Experience in managing clearing/settlement flows via market infrastructures (SWIFT, FEDWIRE, CHIPS)
  • Knowledge of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing (AML/CFT) sanctions filtering systems
  • Knowledge of trading room or back office operational processes
  • Good command of the project life cycle
  • Linux and Windows environments
  • Databases: SQL Server, Oracle PL/SQL
  • Shell scripting skills
  • Tools: Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio), JIRA (an asset)
  • Knowledge of middleware and schedulers: MQ Series, JBoss, Control-M
  • Ability to design robust technical solutions based on business needs
  • Mastery of test and validation methods
  • Use of data quality control tools
  • Understanding of global IT architecture: network, hardware, software, tools

  • Bilingual English/French
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with local and international IT teams (infrastructure, security, operations)
  • Listening and service skills, ability to translate business needs into concrete technical solutions
  • Ability to work in complex, demanding environments (production challenges, high operational exposure)
  • Organizational skills, rigor, autonomy
  • Analytical and synthesizing skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (in English)
  • Ability to manage several subjects in parallel, prioritize and follow through to resolution
